Southeast Lineman Training Center Selects Fusion Paper® to Withstand Harsh Weather

St George, UT – The Southeast Lineman Training Center (SLTC) located in Trenton, GA is a vocational school dedicated to teaching future generations of electrical and communications lineworkers. The SLTC has been called the “bootcamp of lineman schools” for its rigorous outdoor training classes where students are required to practice their trade by climbing and working on utility poles in all types of weather, including rain, snow, wind, and temperatures over 100° F, to prepare them for the work they will do getting communities back up and running after inclement weather.

Due to the harsh weather conditions, SLTC needed a weatherproof paper for their field manuals that would keep going strong regardless of the weather. Because of its excellent durability properties, including being waterproof and tear resistant, SLTC chose Fusion 7.5 mil Soft Polyester for their field manuals. Jared Anders, SLTC’s marketing director, was searching for a durable, waterproof, tear resistant paper to print the field manual on and found Fusion 7.5 mil Soft Polyester to be “a really great product that we’ve been absolutely amazed by.”

The field manuals, which illustrate for the student linemen various schematics for how to build out different wiring projects, are 15 pages long and bound in one corner by a ring inserted through a hole punched into the tear resistant and waterproof paper. This binding method allows the pages to be folded over completely, which helps ensure there is less of a chance of the field manual being dropped by the lineworker.

Because of the special top coating designed for toner printing and also the static free properties of Fusion 7.5 mil Soft Polyester, these field manuals can be easily printed in house by SLTC. Anders stated, “We print 250 copies on our Canon copier for each training class, and before using Fusion Soft Polyester some of the manuals didn’t even make it to the end of the course. With Fusion 7.5 mil Soft Polyester we haven’t had to replace a single copy.” Anders continued by saying, “The Fusion 7.5 mil Soft Polyester pages fold over well and have never torn.”

Al Grant, Director of Sales, Marketing and Distribution for Fusion Digital Paper® added “the static free runnability of Fusion Soft Polyester cannot be overstated. Most synthetic end use applications require print finishing, and having a sheet that runs static free allows you to jog, stack, fold, punch or convert via any other process just like paper. This is in stark contrast to all competitive top coated polyester films, where static is an inherent issue and causes a struggle both during printing and in the bindery.”

Companies like SLTC (www.lineworker.com) choose Fusion Digital Paper® because it has been the premier digital synthetic substrate manufacturer in the USA for a decade. Fusion Digital Paper® has the most diverse array of substrates in the industry which provides solutions for a variety of demanding end use applications that need to be digitally printed.
